Peter_S Posted October 9, 2019 Author Share #21 Posted October 9, 2019 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi Tim! That part I got. I just wonder how to deal with earth rotation and resulting sky movement while taking three fairly long exposures. As I understood, the subject should be absolutely static.
Advertisement Posted October 9, 2019 Posted October 9, 2019 Hi Peter_S, Take a look here Monochrom vs GFX50R. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
benqui Posted October 9, 2019 Share #22 Posted October 9, 2019 Hi Peter, congrats to your camera! You will love the Mono (and sometimetimes you will hate the Mono). I never had any problems with the SD Card, except with the newer ones. "Old" 8 MB work without any problems on my MM1
a.noctilux Posted October 9, 2019 Share #23 Posted October 9, 2019 Benqui, do you really mean "old" 8MB ? Or less old 8GB, I think. Anyway, I use SD or SDHC from 2GB to 32GB with Monochrom. As said, when one SD has some trouble with files, after formatting the card becomes usable again.
Akaki Posted November 22, 2019 Share #24 Posted November 22, 2019 On 9/20/2019 at 5:44 PM, Peter_S said: Akaki, this is a great shot. I decided to stick with the Monochrom idea. I miss rangefinders after looking through EVFs for too long, and find RF focusing just faster. I also think the M246 will produce more "keepers", due to faster focusing being probably a bit less prone to shaking blur. Color work will be taken care of by a XT1 and Sigma Merrill. Thanks for the input - now time to look for a good deal. Prices for MM1 seem to be on a high right now, and MM2 prices are still quite stiff. Patience. Dear Peter Sorry for late answer, I have some problem with my computer. I have now GFX 50s... But... absolutely confusing, great machine but not for me, I miss delicate rendering light, ergonomic system and many other details which is so important for create image. Now I decide to sell (I had GFX 50 S only one week) or exchange on SL 2. I thing it will be right dessision.

I thought you were talking about short exposures of foliage. Might look interesting if leaves are moving
DadDadDaddyo Posted November 24, 2019 Share #26 Posted November 24, 2019 Hello all -- Late reply, a new guy to forum, first post, but not new to Leica; I'll do my Howdy Duty presently. As to the question, I have both the M246 and the Fujifilm GFX-50R. I find they are different, quite complimentary instruments. A viola and a cello. The GFX-50R produces outstanding monochrome output, both through RAW, and in jpg using the wonderful Acros film simulation. The GF lenses are jaw-droppingly good. Simply astonishing. They do not produce a classical signature of the sort I grew up with using LTM and M lenses. Not worse, just different in kind, very sharp and modern. For the classic look, nothing else quite looks like the Summicrons, Elmarits, Elmars, and Hektors of the world. Access to those lenses is better on the M246 than on any 3rd party platform. The M246 and the GFX-50R produce the best digital images I've ever worked with, the GFX-50R files approaching what I can get out of my Imacon Precision scanner from 4x5. They're seriously that good. As a result, they make the M246 files feel like medium format in comparison to the monochrome files from my Fujifilm X-Pro2, which tends to go unused these days. As the dragster designers like to point out, there's no substitute for displacement! Anyway, to return to the original question, I find the M246 and the GFX-50R coexist symbiotically. And both are outstanding for use with the lenses to which they provide access. Good wishes, all Dad Dad Daddyo
