I am not saying that one cannot create lovely images with an Elmarit-M 24mm lens, but its field curvature presents challenges, and, as I see it, a high-MP sensor magnifies these challenges. I experienced this when I added a Canon 5Ds R, in early 2016. 50MP+. The first casualty was my EF 16-35/2.8L II, which I had bought the previous year. I had never really warmed-up to this lens, but the 5Ds R magnified its faults. I quickly gravitated to just two lenses, with this high resolution beast, an EF 35mm f/2, with Image Stabilization, and my trusty EF 100/2.8L Macro, with Image Stabilization. I then added an EF 100-400L II IS. Wide-angle? Well, I have yet to sort that out. Here is a link, to a related article. This photographer was known for using a particular 20mm lens, as it suited his style, but the 5Ds R compelled him to select a new ultra-wide lens. https://fstoppers.com/architecture/why-renowned-playboy-photographer-jarmo-pohjaniemi-using-canon-ef-11-24mm-f4l-96913 I am loving my Zeiss 4,5/21mm ZM, Elmarit-M 28mm III, and Leitz 2.8cm Summaron, on 24MP M cameras. I am hoping that they do well if/when I add an M10 Monochrom, but, I will make sure I can afford to buy, without trading my 24MP cameras, so I can continue to shoot with 24MP.
