what does mean to OPTIMIZE MY LENSES FOR THE USE WITH DIGITAL LEICA M CAMERAS?

Re: “In my experience my lenses that were released prior to 2000 (24mm f2.8 ASPH, 35mm 1.4 ASPH, 90MM f2 APO) all work just fine across the entire field on the 24 megapixel cameras.   What can be expected if the lenses are mounted on a 41megapixel M10M or a 47 megapixel SL2 (via adapter)?”

In other discussions, in these forums, the Elmarit-M 24mm has already been specified as having problems when used an a 47MP SL2, but, actually, this had already been noticed in the M9 days. I am not saying that one cannot create lovely images with an Elmarit-M 24mm lens, but its field curvature presents challenges, and, as I see it, a high-MP sensor magnifies these challenges.

I experienced this when I added a Canon 5Ds R, in early 2016. 50MP+. The first casualty was my EF 16-35/2.8L II, which I had bought the previous year. I had never really warmed-up to this lens, but the 5Ds R magnified its faults. I quickly gravitated to just two lenses, with this high resolution beast, an EF 35mm f/2, with Image Stabilization, and my trusty EF 100/2.8L Macro, with Image Stabilization. I then added an EF 100-400L II IS. Wide-angle? Well, I have yet to sort that out.

Here is a link, to a related article. This photographer was known for using a particular 20mm lens, as it suited his style, but the 5Ds R compelled him to select a new ultra-wide lens.

I am loving my Zeiss 4,5/21mm ZM, Elmarit-M 28mm III, and Leitz 2.8cm Summaron, on 24MP M cameras. I am hoping that they do well if/when I add an M10 Monochrom, but, I will make sure I can afford to buy, without trading my 24MP cameras, so I can continue to shoot with 24MP.
