i do agree with this. that's why i have the f6000 and f30 fuji's for digicams. so far the sensors for these in lowlight haven't been matched. how is the olympus e410? just handled one in a store and it's the size of a rangefinder and looks like one. seems like this plus a fixed r, say the 28 or 50 would be the most unobtrusive combination.

Hi Wayne,

I have found the E 410 a beauty. I did use an E10/E20, and was quite used to the quailty produced by them, the problem was the weight. I bought the D2 because of it's quality of output and much lighter weight. After the sensor went down last month, rather than wait 4 months with out a camera I purchased one.

I am very impressed by it's lightness and amazing picture quality. Noise is virtually missing at ISO 800. Being small I did think that controls would be fiddly, but they seem ergonomically placed. Some mag reviews say the RHS strap lug is obtrusive and awkward, but I have not found this a problem at all. The results from it seem equally as good as the D2's.

To summarise: Won't wait, can't wait, so purchase Nikon. It sounds as if Leica have pulled the plug on a lot of faithful customers, who have discovered that there is indeed life after the red dot! I will wait for my D2, but will not make the mistake of buying a D3.

D2 has become D-Last!

yeah I'm a convert, started back in 1972 with a blk nikon ftn right up to their Dslr's which I owned 2 and hated.. then I converted to leica r9/dmr..I had problems with the digital nikons,

mechanically and image quality, none so far with the dmr.( almost 2 years}

I happily unloaded my nikons, except for that first '72 ftn as a momento, also picked up a used r8 as backup.. have never done more that a test exposure with it..and if someone made me shoot that weird stuff with sprocket holes..( no client has in over 3 years) I would reach for the r8 not the ftn..

Don't get me wrong, I will welcome the next r with auto focus.. but I am thankful I learned

manual to the extent that I have full confidence with the current r, I'm also thankful I converted to leica as it fits my work and pleasure; the quality of my small-camera work went up a notch because of it. That is a big point, shoot the camera which gives you the confidence to do your best.
