Phil1066 Posted September 9, 2019 Share #1 Posted September 9, 2019 Advertisement (gone after registration) Loving it madly, but I have a question for those also using the Leica M to L Lens adapter. I've been shooting with a Zeiss 35mm/1.4ZM on the adapter and pretty much been at 1.4 the whole time. Looking at the EXIF data in Lightroom however the f stops seem to be all over the place. I was running Auto ISO too and the Summicron 28f2 ASPH profile, as I'd seen recommended on here. Will the f stop ever be correct with that lens/adapter setup? Or should I just correct using exiftool? Thanks for your help

Mr.Q Posted September 9, 2019 Share #2 Posted September 9, 2019 It will never be correct, it's just an estimation.

Thanks for your help Yes, the SL is a beauty (in my eyes and hands, at least). Since there are no electronic contacts between the manual Zeiss-lens (or any M-lens) and the body, the body can only guess the lens aperture. The shutter speed and ISO should be correct, however. So either you have to add correct aperture yourself, or you simply forget about it (my way of shooting, except for special occasions when aperture would be good to know...).

After having used the Lumix S1R extensively since May, I've now gone back to shooting with my SL. I've missed the simplicity and the image rendering of the SL; it's not just about the extra megapixels. When comparing images between the SL and S1R, I've repeatedly found the images from the S1R just too clinical for my liking. So much so that I sold my S1R yesterday. Best, Mike 2

My fav digital cameras are M9 and SL, likely in the opposite order, but that's a detail. The S1Rs IBIS is absolutely fantastic, but otherwise I like the SL more/better. So yes, I may also follow your recent 'move'...
