dante Posted August 1, 2007 Share #1 Posted August 1, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) My M8 recently came back after work (not identified by Leica) to correct some focus problems. Leica left "lens detection" on. I tried a bunch of coded lenses and then an uncoded 90 Hexanon. To my great surprise, the Hexanon registered as a 90mm on the info screen for shots taken with it, despite the lack of coding on the lens. What gives? Is the camera reading solely from the framline lever?

jaapv Posted August 1, 2007 Share #2 Posted August 1, 2007 No- the lens probably has a screw - or a smudge- exactly in the right spot on the mount.
guidomo Posted August 1, 2007 Share #3 Posted August 1, 2007 I think others have reported this before. Supposedly a screw happens to be just in the place where the corresponding 6bit code has a "1" (black dot). Call it luck, if it works consistently that saves you the coding.
