I don't see it discussed enough in video or forums. It's the optical image stabilization. It keeps me coming back for more and continues to be a force multiplier.

I have heard it said that it's not needed on a 28mm lens. Let me tell you that at night, it makes a major difference on allowing more light in at lower shutter speeds, and I notice a significant difference in the handling of the camera.

OIS works really good. While I’m not a big fan of IS, the implementation in the Q2 is really nice.

I love to shoot the streets with moving subjects at low shutter speeds to introduce motion blur. I feel completely comfortable at 1/4 and even at 1/2 in some cases. The OIS definitely adds a lot of versatility. Love it.

I've comfortably shooting my Q at 1/8 second with very little noise in only moonlight. No biggie. But I think Nikon is the true champion here, with fantastic stabilization and very usable photos at ISO 52k and beyond!

Really? I was not aware. Are you able to post an example or link to one at 52k? I'm curious. And which model?

I've seen many on-line. Easy to find on Ken Rockwell's site, in his reviews of (say) the D850 or Z6.

Thanks, interesting. I did see a few 2500 ISO images that looked noise free there. Not better than what I get out of the GFX 50S however, and given the size of the Z7 and D850, there's not much advantage in me looking further, but quite interesting anyway.

I know we're way off topic here, but the Z7 is microscopic compared to the GFX 50S. I'm not trying to push the Nikon: wish I could convince myself of it, but I don't like the interface enough.

Not sure I'd say microscopic. I mean I don't find the decrease in size to be significant enough (with lenses factored in) when compared to the lost advantages of the Fuji medium format. I mean I know that camera is hella more versatile, no questioning that.

Here's how clean the GFX has been for me in low light: https://www.bxlgotham.com/aesthetic-1

Probably doesn't help that I don't have the exposure settings in there 😕 but trust me :)

Those are really nice compositions, indeed. I'm completely confident that, purely in terms of low light performance, the same results could be achieved with a Nikon dSLR or mirrorless (or a number of other FF cameras; certainly the SL). Not that it matters: you like and use well your Fuji and that's all that counts.

Thanks I’ll have to trust your judgement on the noise abilities and look at those cameras.
