amyinthecity Posted August 29, 2019 Share #1 Posted August 29, 2019 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi! Newbie Leica owner here. I've been using my Leica Q for a few months on the silent mode (no sound for anything) and suddenly, today, the shutter is making a fairly loud clicking sound when I shoot a picture. I checked my "acoustic signal" settings and everything is set to "off." I changed some settings and returned them to off (hoping it just needed a boost!) and that didn't work. I then reset the camera and that didn't work, either! The shutter makes a click no matter what. I'm worried I have broken my camera somehow -- and hope you all have some ideas for me. Thanks so much! Advertisement Posted August 29, 2019 Posted August 29, 2019 Hi amyinthecity, Take a look here silent shutter no longer silent. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
amyinthecity Posted August 29, 2019 Author Share #2 Posted August 29, 2019 Ok, so I just found that it's the "electronic shutter" that was on "extended" and if I put it on "always on" now it's silent again! I don't know how that got changed.....or if it's a bad thing to always be on? So much to learn....
dancook Posted August 29, 2019 Share #3 Posted August 29, 2019 The silent Electronic shutter can cause banding in some artificial light or it can cause rolling shutter in scenes with movement. the mechanical leaf shutter will work up to 1/2000th - whilst it isn’t silent, I wouldn’t call it loud.
