I have an enormous collection of Leica lenses, so many I've not had the opportunity to try them all on my M8 as yet. Those I have tried, nearly two dozen at last count, focus correctly.

Now I'm jealous. LOL

Send a few over Vinay , I will give them a whirl for ya

New Jersey can't do this work? I have an M8 on order. If it is off with my 50 aspheric, the camera will be returned, I can't be without the lens for more than a few days, it is a work lens..

1) You are highly unlikely to have the problem.

2) In almost all cases, NJ can do the work.

just wanted to share my recent experiences/experiments.

i have an M8 with a 35mm summicron ASPH as my main lens. it focuses perfectly at all distances and apertures.

just a few days ago i bought a used 50mm F1.0 first gen. noctilux.

it backfocuses at all distances.

i took it in to have it looked at Kindermann which is the leica service company in Canada.

they checked my noctilux and my M8 and found that they were both within spec.

not wanting to send the 50mm to Solms, and having done some research on the forum, i decided to try to adjust the rangefinder alignment on my M8 in hopes of getting both lenses into proper focus.

well after some trial and error the noctilux seems to focus pretty good at minimum and mid distances.

the 35mm focuses fine at min, and has VERY VERY minor front focusing midrange focus wide-open.

i have yet to try true infiniti focusing, although i have a suspiscion that it may be just off on both lenses.....(for now i'm willing to trade that off cuz i'm not likely to shoot@infiniti wide open)

i know there's lots of discussion, but if anyone wants to give their input on rangefinder adjustment and noctiluxes--i'm all ears.

Steve, Jaap

Thanks for your replies. that's a relief!!

my 28/35/75 'crons are ok. i am having problems with my 50 'lux though. have you found that to be the case?

Regards.

I am also having a problem with my 50lux, which i hav arranged via the dealer, who now accepts there is a problem, to send to leica along with the camera so they can synch them....

Does this mean that once leica have synched your system and you sell your lens

the new owner has to have it synched too? because now his leica is a different cam?

how many synchs do we need?

Yes, i did pose the question to the dealer about what happens when i buy my 2nd body?! i will ask for a report of what they have done to fix the issue and post it here. From what i have read on the forum is may be either adjustment of the rangefinder and or shim's on the lense.....it would eb nice to know how and what they have fiddled with to fix it.

Am afraid my M8 reminds me of very nice red italian sports cars and motor bikes. Depending on the day, exhilarating and infuriating in equal measure!

Currently, even given the problems.... i am still enthused with the image quality my new 28mm f2.8 elmarit is giving. The problems of backfocus with the noctilux (which i hav now sold) and the 50mm lux fade away and i am reminded with the M8 and 28mm combo why i had up until recently always longed for a Leica.
