Where was that one? Was it somewhere up the A1 near Scotch Corner? I'm pretty positive I've been in there during my 'Beetle' days 30+ years ago and, unbelievably, it was actually worse than you would expect from appearances....

Must be a mirror image to balance the country, right down on the south coast.

(I think) It was/is on the A35 between Axminster and Honiton. Presumably a regular pit stop for Ian on his way to Devon, although I expect he will deny it vigorously!

That is indeed the one and I do deny it! I go down on the A303.... well I try to but the last few times it’s been closed most of the way. It once took me about 8 hours to drive from Dover to Devon due to road closures all over the place once past Basingstoke. I was zigzagging all over Wiltshire, Dorset, Somerset, Hampshire and Mordor.

That's the one - there was also a similar one that was sold off and changed a few years ago, on the A358 (just off the A 303) heading towards Taunton - the road closures between the south east and south west of the UK never cease to surprise me - they seem to all be put into place simultaneously, to maximise inconvenience- on ne occasion when the M4 and A303 were closed I travelled as far as Bournemouth before being able to break back onto the A303, by switching road to road, near Gillingham.

Isn't it heartening to discover that they are simply preserving the equality of their Brand Identity irrespective of how attractive might be the countryside which surrounds their Restaurants?....

Aha, yes indeed I remember that one well... at the roundabout .. and on more the one occasion Nat insisted we stop there “for a rest”. She seems to like some of the stranger British things, Little Chef, Hovis bread, Marmite, .... me.

Not only that, they also monitor the weather and the ferry passenger lists, and make sure do dig up the roads when I travel at night and it’s raining to even further enhance the pleasure!
