Flu Posted August 16, 2019 Share #21  Posted August 16, 2019 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) Got the lens yesterday! So far my fav focal length from the SL crons. But I like the 35mm hood better so I swapped it heh! Edited August 16, 2019 by Flu
Advertisement Posted August 16, 2019 Posted August 16, 2019 Hi Flu, Take a look here The Perfect Standard Lens? My Take on the 50 APO SL. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
lx1713 Posted August 21, 2019 Share #22  Posted August 21, 2019 Just got it too. Shot a corporate head shot side by side against the 90mm. I do prefer the 90mm for what I was shooting but I was in a hurry so my lighting was different enough that I can't judge if I like the 50mm but it certainly is very sharp and clear. No complains. Per P. Posted August 21, 2019 Share #23 Â Posted August 21, 2019 Sorry to whinge and don't intend to derail the OOO but I do wonder why on earth the 35s are still not coming through. Given that many from the constituency have been waitlisted since like forever at least an explanation would be quite nice. Not to mention a forecast. insideline Posted August 22, 2019 Share #27  Posted August 22, 2019 Advertisement (gone after registration) I had pre-ordered both the 35 and 50 SL APO lenses and I just received them, yet I decided to only keep the 50 SL F2. I fully expected to love both the 35 and 50 equally, but to my eyes, subjective of course, I feel that the way these new SL APO  Summicron lenses render with such incredible clarity along with the ability to have quite rapid focus fall off, that the 50mm focal length and above (75 SL-90SL) to "me" suits this rendering style best. So for me the 50 SL Cron is a truly stunning lens on my SL body. The 35mm SL was incredibly sharp, focussed very quickly etc so no complaints and I am certain will be absolutley loved by many photographers, I simply felt the 50mm APO SL Cron utilized this new style of modern rendering with more success, again to my eyes. I compared this new 35mm SL Cron to my 35mm 1.4 Double Aspherical M lens which only reminded me why I like the 35AA so much as to me it shows more character in the images, and yes I know these are not apple to apple lenses. I once owned the 50 1.4 SL Summilux but I would not again given how sharp this new 50mm Summicron APO lens is, plus the substantive weight savings and quicker focus on the 50 SL APO Cron are icing on the cake. In my brief testing I also believe this new SL 50 Cron out-resolves my 50M APO F2. Again, all subjective opinions from an older jaded shooter.
jrp Posted August 22, 2019 Share #28  Posted August 22, 2019 (35mm SA is a collector's item, in the sense that the resale value is such as to make the lens too risky to use:  ~100,000 $/€/£.)

jrp Posted August 31, 2019 Share #31  Posted August 31, 2019 These Summicron lenses open up new creative possibilities; being able to shoot wide open, or nearly so, without penalty, feels a bit odd after all these years.
