I am considering to buy the Q2 as well but got confused by reading this topic of TS.

Are the issues solved now by the last firmware?

The Q2 is a excellent camera to use for what she was designed, a small all-day camera with a excellent lens und top-notch build quality.

When i analyze the treas from people complaining about the Q/Q2 mostle the reaso is that they dont understand how and for what the Q series is designed.
Switching from one camera brand to another means always to read the manual, watch tutorial and discover that the camera has personal relatet quirks who can overcome easily.
Several people complained thet their nose is activating the touchscreen because the use their left eye to see thru the EVF,
no i am asking me if this is a cameras faul or a user fault?
There are several other examples regarding this and the photographers troubles to understand how the Q series work.

Another problem is that some photographers have problems to get comfortable with the Q series to use a fixed lenght lens.

You will be more than happy with the Q2 if you
a) are able to invest some time to understand the camera and it's menus who are for sure than the ones you use on any other camera brand
b) if you are already used to use fixed lenght wide-angle lense or willing to learn how to work with them
c) understand that you have a high MP sensor who allow you to crop either in the camera or better later on the computer
d) know that you have oe of the fines lenses available and they can make beautiful photos, but using the 28mm you can gain working mid to wide open to get the "Leica Look"
e) you dont whant this camera for serios macro work, sport photography, underwater photography, birding or any other photography where you need a tele lens

If you are aware about the abouve you will fall in love with her...

Chris

P.S. The last firmware make that the already well working camera working even better.
P.P.S. It is always a good idea on digital cameras to underexpose a bit to avoid burnt-out whites what happen also with all other cameras

 Dear Chris

Thank you very much for making this clear and your advices. I feel better now 🙂

I have only one question about touching the nose at the touchscreen. Is it not possible to set the touchscreen automatically off as soon as you use the EVF? Most cameras has this option. Most people are using their left eye thru the EVF.

let me know please

Thank you

I have no idea as i use my right eye but if most user use left eye then most Q2 photographers would have this problem, but only a few complaints abou that.
This leads me to believe that it's not the left eye, instead its either the nose lenght and/or the position the camera is hold so that th nose touches the screen.
Also i am wondering why this is a problem on the Q while most other cameras have a screen on the back as well.

However there are some treads here and afaik there is a solution to avoid moving focus point with the nose.

Chris

I found you one and there is also a possible solution.
