Donut Posted August 5, 2019 Share #1  Posted August 5, 2019 Advertisement (gone after registration) I don't know if anyone has heard of new APS-C L lenses in the works, but a fast portrait lens is missing from the lineup. A 75mm Summilux would be wonderful...

ejk64 Posted August 6, 2019 Share #2  Posted August 6, 2019 hello, as for me I use for my portrait the summarit 50 / 2.4. its focal length of 50 is equal to a 75 mm, the almost ideal lens (85 mm) for portraits. (and in addition it is proportioned with my chromed cl.  Welcome, dear visitor! Donut Posted August 6, 2019 Author Share #3  Posted August 6, 2019 A stunning fit! I do have a fast 50 which works but I do miss the compression you get with a full frame 75mm or 90mm lens. Of course could go M mount but then again I do need autofocus for certain shots...

LeicaS2 Posted August 7, 2019 Share #5  Posted August 7, 2019 The new released this week Sigma 45mm f2.8 is perhaps not fast enough for some, but it is a fast enough portrait lens for me on a CL  wit a FF equivalent of sixty eight mm. In my quick test, it focused fast, rendered well, and was compact. The size reminded me of what would have been the size of a 50mm lens before the days of AF. Welcome, dear visitor! Peter Wright Posted August 7, 2019 Share #6  Posted August 7, 2019 I use the long end of the 18-56 or the short end of the 55-135.  If I really need shallow DOF I can attache my 50mm Summilux or my 75mm Summicron.  (Manual focus M lenses on the CL are about as good as it gets.)  Some will suggest the 60mm 2.8 Macro, with which I have no experience. Also keep in mind that Sigma has made mention of releasing their 56mm 1.4, (which is an APS specific AF lens that currently comes in micro 4/3 and Sony mount) as part of the L mount consortium.  It gets very good reviews and is not expensive.  I look forward to getting one in spring. LeicaS2 Posted August 7, 2019 Share #7  Posted August 7, 2019 Advertisement (gone after registration) Peter, good advice on the 56mm 1.4. That would be even better. I have the 55-135 but the ability to close focus is a limit. I may end up with the 60mm TL. i have the 11-23 which is what’s usually on my CL. I got the 18 wanting it’s small form, but end up using the 11-23 more often.
Marac Posted August 9, 2019 Share #8 Â Posted August 9, 2019 I also have the new Sigma 45mm and use it for portraits with no complaints at all. It's a stunning small lightweight lens that delivers on IQ. using it manually is a pleasure too.
photogray Posted August 9, 2019 Share #9 Â Posted August 9, 2019 Personally, having shot for 40 years with a full range of 'portrait' lenses, I'm quite happy using the 35 Summilux wide open for portraits. It's superb. I rely on it more than the 18-56 at full extension.
