I am an anglo-phile. Some large portion of my ancestors came from Wallesey (across the Mersey from Liverpool).

But British cars… My experience and perspective is generally not great. British cars that landed in Canada tended (in the hands of people I know) to be rather unreliable. A former boss had a 3.8 Jaguar. It was wonderful when it was running well. But it was very frequently in the shop.  And rust was a big problem (our roads were and are often salted), and Japanese and German cars were generally designed with such things better in mind. If I lived in England or northern France, I would seriously consider a lightly used Rolls Royce – easily maintained at reasonable cost (I am led to believe).  But here in Montreal, British cars are ill advised. Better a good example of a Mercedes Benz S  or E class.

Not if you are buying genuine parts.

A cousin in Northern Ireland has a Silver Wraith II, only buys genuine RR parts, including used and it is still a pretty expensive maintenance bill.
