Sombat Posted July 5, 2019 Share #1  Posted July 5, 2019 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello, This is my first post with this forum (Thanks), also the first time with Leica SLR camera, just got R8 last week and summicron 50/2 version 1 (2 cams), without knowledge about Leica, so I mounted the lens with R8, I found it needs to stopped down by pressing down DOF lever to adjust aperture, the first film roll has not been finished yet (just 14 shots taken). Today, I heard from someone that this lens version could possible damage camera contacts!!!, after did a research, there is a charting that support!!. I would like to ask as under what action should I do - Unmount it out now and find 3 cams version to play with R8 later - Finished the first roll first and then unmount it out How do I know my R8 is still working and functioning?, no damage yet!!  Thanks in advance for an answer to help me Sombat.    Welcome, dear visitor! wagner Posted July 5, 2019 Share #2  Posted July 5, 2019 Hi Sombat! I wouldn't worry. Leica just wont to be on the safe side. in theory - if the 1 cam is still aligned properly, which should normally be the case - , the cam shouldn't touch the ROM contacts at all. So, if your ROM Contacts do look alright, everything should be fine with your camera. I bought my R9 with some lenses together. One lens was a 2 Cam 60mm Macro...… Regards,  Torsten
james.liam Posted July 5, 2019 Share #3  Posted July 5, 2019 Perhaps OK but since repair for the R9 is  becoming impossible to come by, why gamble? Get a better 3-cam and sleep soundly.

masjah Posted July 6, 2019 Share #7 Â Posted July 6, 2019 Advertisement (gone after registration) R-cam only will meet your needs, and is easier to come by than 3-ca.
