sandymc Posted July 30, 2007 Share #21 Posted July 30, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) To perhaps clarify a few things (or perhaps confuse them even further), there are reasons why various people's experiences of filters and color are different. What isn't widely understood is that different raw converters are very different as to how the handle color conversion. Specifically, some (and C1 is a good example) hard code their own color profiles in the software. Other however (E.g., the Adobe products) look at the color profile embedded into the DNG, which is set by Leica via the M8 firmware. Also, at the same time as the IR filter thing happened, Leica substantially changed the embedded color matrix in the DNG file, presumable exactly to get better color when using IR filters. (1.02 firmware, I think?) So actually, depending when and on what combination of raw converter and firmware you tested, you may have had very different experiences of color rendition and IR filters Sandy

jaapv Posted July 30, 2007 Share #22 Posted July 30, 2007 HI HolgerIt was Lightroom that I moved to, rather than C1 - better detail, better micro-contrast, [...........] All a matter of taste I guess. Interesting-LFI made the same comparison and came to the opposite conclusion -backed it up with an example as well. Maybe something to really test out, although agree, in the end it all comes down to preferences.
