To see the endangered western lowland gorillas we had to don surgical masks, and carry them out for disposal -- Gorillas share so much DNA with us that our diseases could harm or kill them.  Barbara is dutifully wearing her surgical mask, as well as a net to keep the huge swarms of sweat bees off her head and face.  We had three opportunities to see gorilla families, and fortunately we were only bothered by the insects one of those times.
