caigy Posted June 12, 2019 Share #1  Posted June 12, 2019 Advertisement (gone after registration) Am I the only one who thinks the CL needs a silicone rubber eyecup? I find a lot of stray light comes at me from the side, depending of course on lighting conditions, where the sun is, etc. I find myself cupping my hand up against my face and around my eye to block stray light. Is there a generic eyecup available, or something that could be adapted to fit on the CL?

wda Posted June 13, 2019 Share #3 Â Posted June 13, 2019 I find it no hardship using my left hand, when needed, to shield against glare when shooting outside on a sunny day.
Petercoll Posted June 13, 2019 Share #4 Â Posted June 13, 2019 An eye cup would be a sensible accessory . I cannot see a thing , when I cannot shield with my left hand , and focus my long focus R telephoto at the same moment .
ramarren Posted June 13, 2019 Share #5 Â Posted June 13, 2019 A wide brimmed hat works wonders for sunny days. Â 1 1
jaapv Posted June 14, 2019 Share #6 Â Posted June 14, 2019 This eyecup is probably slightly loose. It must be possible to modify it by a rubber ring: Â http://www.fieldopticsresearch.com/shop/EyeShield-Winged-Eye-Cups/p/EyeShield-Compact-Size-sku-B002.htm

No, unfortunately I didn't.  I bought the eyecups (they are actually for binoculars), but couldn't figure out a way to make them fit tightly, so I ended up returning them. I'm still looking for a solution. Maybe if Leica comes out with a CL2 someday (with IBIS, I hope!), they will add the option of a fitted eyecup. pebbles Posted April 5, 2020 Share #10 Â Posted April 5, 2020 It is very difficult shooting contre jour with the CL. An eyecup as for the R series would be a great help.
Gregm61 Posted April 6, 2020 Share #11  Posted April 6, 2020 On bright sunny days I do not go out with any mirrorless body without a hat. There’s nothing I experience as a glasses wearer with the CL that isn’t the exact same issue with any of the Olympus OMD mirrorless cameras with electronic finders. The biggest, best eyecup wouldn’t help at all for someone as blind and dependent on their glasses as me.

I am surprised no independent maker hasn't produced one. tt doesn't need to be stiff so a soft flexible rubber one would suit. 1
pebbles Posted April 14, 2020 Share #13 Â Posted April 14, 2020 (edited) What is up with eBay advertisers. I have asked two sellers of rubber eyecups for the internal dimension of the cup. Nil repsonse. Edited April 14, 2020 by pebbles
pebbles Posted April 16, 2020 Share #14 Â Posted April 16, 2020 I have now asked another eBay seller of rubber eyecups the internal dameter of the end of the eyecup that fits over the camera eye piece. Still no response. I am wondering if the term "internal daimeter" is too much to comprehend..
pebbles Posted June 2, 2020 Share #15 Â Posted June 2, 2020 The diameter of the CL eye piece is 25mm so a rubber slip on would need to be just under that to stay in place. I hve found one of 25mm internal diameter but it is too loose.
Lavaboy Posted June 12, 2020 Share #16  Posted June 12, 2020 (edited) Minolta X-700/370 eyecup. I'm sttill trying to find a way to keeping it on. Nothing will stick to the tapered silicone eyepiece. It goes on snug but because of the taper it can slip off easily if nudged. I hope someone can come up with a solution. We're almost there!  Welcome, dear visitor! And where did you get it? I searched for it and every single one I saw looked slightly different from yours.
