First time use of R 80-200mm lens with the SL 601 and impressed with its close focus capability. Bank voles move very fast thus manual focus 'hit rate' is low … but perseverance pays off. All images taken from just above ground level , subject distance approx. 2m. … as per apparatus photo below. Best wishes dunk Edited May 17, 2019 by dkCambridgeshire
 Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members! As registered member you'd see an image here… Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members! Apparatus photo taken during a break to reposition the Lastolite reflector. The Bank Vole habitat under the scrub is beneath a row of large suspended bird feeders provided by the reserve management to encourage e.g. Tree Sparrows and Dunnocks which inhabit the scrub. The reserve is an old disused limestone quarry. I placed the smaller pieces of limestone in front of the large rocks to provide a natural looking background and hid the nuts between the small rocks. On my trolley seat are bags of nuts and seeds. Once settled in my seat the bank Voles usually appear late afternoon. Sunlight is essential to bounce off the reflector and illuminate the habitat … enabling reasonable ISO / shutter speeds at effective f8 / f11 with the 2x extender. During previous visits I've baited the area with nuts and cut back some of the scrub with secateurs. dunk Edited May 17, 2019 by dkCambridgeshire
 Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members!
