On your S camera: What adapted "fast" 35mm and 50mm prime lens are you now using and liking?

I love the original lenses issued with the S cameras. They are all excellent.

However......there are a few drawbacks that I want to solve.

a) Too heavy: the 50mm F1.4 lens is stellar quality, but you pay the price in weight of the lens. I just can't see carrying around on a routine basis. Just for special projects.

b) Too "slow": the 24-105mm is wonderful but only opens to F4. What happens when you want to isolate your subject from the background by shooting at a very open F stop like F1.4 or F2?

So...it is time to use some faster and lighter Leica M compatible lenses and an adapter ring Leica M to Leica L mount to connect them to the L-mount camera.

Yes....these will be manual focus only and no lens data will be transferred to the images. This means the following consequences:

a) The meta data on the image will be blank for name of lens and focal length of lens and F stop used in the image.

b) You will have to tell the camera what is the focal length of the adapted manual lens. This is not a problem. As soon as you turn on the camera it will query you to choose the correct focal length for the adapted lens. The camera needs this information in order to correctly implement image stabilization.

So....after a long winded intro, what 35mm and 50mm leica M compatible lenses do you like? Can you share some images taken?

Thanks!

I do rather use R lenses (instead of M lenses). They are widely available, usually cheaper, of equal (better on S1/R) quality and have better ergonomics - and closer focusing.
And it will take only a few months until the oiginal 2.8/24-70 zooms will be there. Or use the MC-21 on S1R for example with the Sigma 2.0/24-35 AF zoom. It offers high IQ so it can also replace a 50mm with a little cropping.

So your question is a bit behind the current state of lens availability.   I also use M lenses, but just because I like them, not because of the "reasons" you listed. E.g. the Elmarit 28mm on the SL or the Nocti .  So you seem to be in search of a problem for your "solution".   (And regarding strategy: M is better on SL, but MC-21 needs to be used on S1R. Should be easy enough for most users.)

Am I the only one who pauses each time I read a Leica forum post that uses S lens or camera to mean Lumix S and not Leica S?  😳

Yes it is confusing and furthermore OP has also posted the exact same question in the "Other L-product" section (where it belongs) so maybe the threads can be merged or this one simple deleted.
