dseelig Posted July 26, 2007 Share #1 Posted July 26, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have a voigt nokton and a 50 zeiss f2. I want to have one 50. I do not like the nokton because it only focuses to 3 feet and it is clunky too me . the zeiss I like but it is an f2 the aspherical 1.4 is just too much money how is the last summilux before the asphercal compared to the nokton is it sharper or as sharp. Thoughts ?? Photos?
Advertisement Posted July 26, 2007 Posted July 26, 2007 Hi dseelig, Take a look here 50 mm summilux non aspherical last model ?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Vieri Posted July 26, 2007 Share #2 Posted July 26, 2007 David, did you check out the Zeiss 50mm 1.5 Sonnar? I also had the 50mm f2, and wanted something faster; was intrigued by the reviews re: the particular signature of this lens, and got it recently to check it out - I don't have a 50mm Leica, but I have to say the Zeiss produces great images, and wide open is not as soft as the reviews made me think. I posted a few iages from it here: http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/leica-m8-forum/29717-need-speed-75-lux-zeiss-50mm.html and have taken many more after, here a couple more: best of luck with whatever you choose
luigi bertolotti Posted July 26, 2007 Share #3 Posted July 26, 2007 I have no confrontation with your 50s, but in my opinion the lux 50 pre asph is an excellent lens for M8... my one is really old (glass perfect) and I surely am not going to discard it. valtof Posted July 26, 2007 Share #4 Posted July 26, 2007 I have a voigt nokton and a 50 zeiss f2. I want to have one 50. Thoughts ?? Photos? Here is a bench I did when I bought my Summilux to compare the ASPH and the pre-ASPH : 1 / Extra sharpness is clearly visible for the ASPH ; 2 / You can see in the background my f1.4 / 50 Canon which is also very good and (only) smoother than the pre-ASPH Leica in the same proportion than between the two Leica's. I'm very glad with my second-hand pre-ASPH Leica which I found minty for 1.200 €. Good luck
