biglouis Posted July 26, 2007 Share #2 Posted July 26, 2007 Albert Let me be the first to congratulate you on a very striking and well exposed capture. What a fierce looking creature. Is this a televid capture? If so you are clearly mastering the use of the device. Well done. LouisB
albert Posted July 26, 2007 Author Share #3 Posted July 26, 2007 Louis, Thanks Much. Yes, Televid & D-Lux 3. This is a young male Pileated Woodpecker, identified by his red moustasch.....females have a grey moustasch. He must have been on one of his first solo adventures because he stayed on this telephone pole long enough for me to shoot ten photos......then, his parents maid their incredible call and he zoomed away. martinop Posted July 26, 2007 Share #4 Posted July 26, 2007 Like the details + the colors and especially the shot angle / framing.
stuny Posted July 26, 2007 Share #5 Posted July 26, 2007 Al - Basically, you've applied portrait technique to this most striking image. Lovely composition, light and color. I think it needs a touch of sharpening, which I've crudely done below. I'll bet that by using the original file you can do a better job of it than I did. samwells Posted July 26, 2007 Share #6 Posted July 26, 2007 Al - Yes, lovely portrait and a great, unusual angle. We have a neighbour who looks just like this :-) cheers: Sam

imported_peter_m Posted July 27, 2007 Share #9 Posted July 27, 2007 Very nice Al! I been trying to get a decent shot of one of them for ages ( got one family in the neighborhood) but they sure don't sit still for very long and don't want to pose on the right spot.
