Probably nothing more than a sign that, much like many posters here, these retailers think time is up for the SL.  Nothing to do with Leica at all.  Meanwhile, the SL is still on the Leica website and available for purchase. Good camera, and the best platform for Leica lenses ...

But I'm guessing that the $1500 trade-in credit doesn't apply if you are already taking advantage of the bundle despite the way that the text above appears to a casual reader? Otherwise you'd be getting an SL plus the 50mm f/1.4 for $6495. That seems to be the way it's working here in the UK so far as I can tell.

I just saw this and you better believe I am going to call them today and find out. If you can take advantage of both I will be purchasing an SL and 50 Lux today.

This may well be the best deal we will ever see from Leica (if you can combine the discounts).

After you've secured the deal for yourself let us all know! I'm not holding my breath, though. 🤣 🤣 🤣

The sales promotions are independent of each other. Here's confirmation of that from Leica Miami:

"For even more savings, Leica has also launched a new trade-up incentive:

Leica SL Trade-Up Program

Now through September 30, 2019, you can trade in anymake or model digital SLR or mirrorless camera, in good working order, and receive an instant $1,500 credit towards the purchase of a brand new Leica SL body. Through this promotion, the price of the SL is reduced from $5,995 to just $4,495.

Please note, the trade-in offer cannot be applied towards either SL bundle, and supplies are limited."

I still called and asked! Haha. Can't fault me for trying. But unfortunately you are correct.

Since the resale value of the SL has fallen considerably (just dealer traded my 6 month old, still under warranty SL for $2800.) you might be able to get a good deal on one, like the SL I've just disposed of, that has been treated kindly.  I'd delivered it to the Leica dealer repacked as if it were brand new, in all original packaging. It went to Leica Miami ... they might still have it.

Good decision.

I'd disposed of my SL as part of a trade, along with a few M lenses, in exchange for new SL 16-35mm and SL 75mm lenses.  Had it not been for that opportunity I probably would have kept it as well, although, it wasn't being used.
