I beg to differ. Erwin’s lens reviews are based on solid testing. He doesn’t like to include the basic data in a review, though.

Puts does indeed test lenses carefully for certain attributes. according to the reviews where he reveals such info. He knows the technical stuff. But I don’t know if he has the equipment Roger now has (costing a fortune) to further upgrade his already rigorous lens tests. And Roger routinely tears down gear from many companies to see what’s inside (and puts it back together for customer use). Ironically, it’s Roger, after all those tedious tests, who is far better able to cut through the tech-speak and tell us in plain words what the data means practically.  And that’s great because he’s in the lens (and camera) rental business, which deals with real world usage issues.
