Wiggi Posted July 25, 2007 Share #1 Posted July 25, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Dear Friends, at Calumet I baught a Wide Angle Photo Lens and a Tele Photo Lens made by SCHNEIDER-KREUZNACH for my V-LUX. Both fit without any adapter at my camera. In the shop I testet the photo lenses and was surprised of the high quality. At Calumet they said: "SCHNEIDER-KREUZNACH - did you really expect another result?" Both lenses are metal made and the quality is first class. There is no change of aperture value and shutter speed by using the photo lenses. With my eyes I could not se any distortion. At both photo lenses you can use the zoom funktion. - Mounting the SCHNEIDER-KREUZNACH XENAR Wide Angle Photo Lens 0.7 you can use the zoom funktion without loosing quality. But it only makes sense to use a focal length till 100 mm, because by a a focal length bigger than 100 mm the aperture value of the LEICA-Objective becomes 3.6. So you get a zoom of equiv 1:2.8-3.2 / 24.5 - 70 mm. - Mounting the SCHNEIDER-KREUZNACH XENAR Tele Photo Lens 0.7 at the corners of the picture the cylinder of the lens makes a shadow by using a focal length below 90 mm. So you can work without any problem by using a focal length over 135 mm. So you get a useable zoom of equiv. 200 mm - 600 mm (exact 189 mm - 588 mm). Since the time of the Screw-Mount-LEICA, SCHNEIDER-KREUZNACH sold photo lenses for LEICA cameras LEICA does not have in its sortiment. The SCHNEIDER-KREUZNACH XENAR Wide Angle Photo Lens 0.7 and the SCHNEIDER-KREUZNACH XENAR Tele Photo Lens 0.7 are ideal for the LEICA V-LUX. You can use thre zoom photo lenses: 1st Dynamic Wide Angle Photo Lens to Soft Tele 1:2.8-3.2 / 24,5 - 70 mm 2nd Wide Angle Photo Lens to Soft Tele 1:2.8-3.7 / 35 - 420 mm (LEICA Photo Lens) 3rd Tele zoom 1:3.6 - 3.7 / 200 - 600 mm (exact 189 mm - 588 mm) Cheers Wiggi Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

Usually, that's a magnification factor--so a wide-angle would be 0.7x (reducing the magnification) and a telephoto would be, say, 1.7x (increasing the magnification). Schneider optics are superb - indeed more than one Leica lens is actually a Schneider OEM product - for example the 28/2.8 PC Super Angulon, though that is not the only one. I'm glad to hear they work wonderfully on the V-Lux. When I first purchased mine I bought the Panasonic wide angle adapter. For the price I could have bought both Schneider-Kreuznach Wide and Tele lenses. Price is $106 which is about half the price of the Panasonic lens. Wiggi is right. No adapter is required, the thread is 55 mm. The lens is boxed in a Kodak yellow box, the lens housing is marked Kodak Schneider-Kreuznach, and it is made in Japan. Made in Japan, not China. I mention this because the Kodak bridge camera for which this lens is sold is made in China (with a Schneider zoom lens made in China?). A good purchase.
