Lots of tourists buy their stuff and seeing their terms and conditions above, no tourist can really claim ( if he hasn't used his creditcard ) I suppose. And of course, sometimes things do not go wrong, but that's not the moment you demand warranty. Some people get out the " tourist trap" without scratches. But maybe it's better to avoid traps... TonyS Posted May 2, 2019 Author Share #23 Posted May 2, 2019 OMG! Guys, thank you for your warmly feedbacks and replys. I really feel sorry that such a lot of people have experienced this thing before. And I also wonder why could this kind of shop still open in the center of the Amesterdam. Paulus Posted May 2, 2019 Share #24 Posted May 2, 2019 Probably because it's his shop ( owner of the building ) so low costs and great profits selling items as new " demo" . It's a business model....
WvE Posted May 8, 2019 Share #25 Posted May 8, 2019 Best to avoid this shop altogether, pushy people. Further up the road (about 1k) you'll find Foto Nivo Schweitzer, better service.

jaapv Posted May 8, 2019 Share #28 Posted May 8, 2019 For instance, in case of default on payment, they charge 10% -a MONTH. The legal maximum interest rate on credit is 8% + 12% in case of default (over the 8%) - a YEAR.
jimbn Posted July 7, 2019 Share #29 Posted July 7, 2019 The Nieuwendijk is the area of unsuspecting tourists and pickpockets. There are probably pickpockets that are doing so well that they can start a shop. Amsterdam, where I lived is not unique. I learned that in New York Fifth Avenue years ago. Paulus Posted August 14, 2019 Share #30 Posted August 14, 2019 Good news. I saw in their ads that they do not use the word " demo" for used Leica cameras at the moment. They still give 2 years of warranty though, I never heard of someone who made a claim and got what they wanted from them.

jaapv Posted August 15, 2019 Share #32 Posted August 15, 2019 If they do, they must have permanent red ears by now. There are quite a few threads about their "business practices". It used to be quite a nice and quaint little shop - fifty years ago...🙄

Paulus Posted October 19, 2021 Share #39 Posted October 19, 2021 (edited) I understand, that the shop has renewed itself called Profoto.nl nowadays: : https://www.marktplaats.nl/v/audio-tv-en-foto/fotografie-lenzen-en-objectieven/m1752120013-leica-75mm-f1-4-summilux-m-nieuwstaat-doos-1-jaar-garantie?previousPage=lr If it is another owner or management....They claim....but..according to this link: https://www.marktplaats.nl/u/fotoprofessional/16301774/ they still sell Leica " DEMO" cameras with 2 years of guarantee. The same Fotoprofessional b.v. is still on the adres in the register of the chamber of commerce and even the telephone number has not changed. One should say, when this is a new shop, that would be the fist thing to alter, not wanting to be associated with the former shop? When you dig deeper one can stil see " Marktplaats" advertisements with the old name. Seems their account has not changed? And ..whoops...their general conditions on website Promoot.nl are the ones from....Foto Professional!: https://profoto.nl/pages/algemene-voorwaarden Edited October 19, 2021 by Paulus
