On a trip to Chicago I when out to take some night shoots and found my SL had somehow been set so I couldn't set the shutter speed longer than one second.

It remained with the one second shutter limit whether I was in aperture priority, shutter priority or manual mode.

Can't recall having done any setting changes that might have brought this about.

I went the local Chicago Leica dealer the next day to see if they had any insight.

In what I can only guess was a communication error, without any ideas, they reset my camera which did resolve my issue but left me more than a little frustrated.

I still don't know what caused the shutter length limit.

Any idea's what I may have done to set the camera to a one second shutter limit?

Thanks!

The electronic shutter limit is 1 second, it will not expose any longer.   Also, flash will not sync or fire with electronic shutter.    Return to mechanical shutter will give longer exposure times and flash synchronization.  When resetting your camera the default is mechanical shutter.  Using profiles with and without electronic shutter is my method for changing modes on the run without diving into menus.

That's great, thank you.

Yes, I do recall having the electronic shutter on.

The electronic shutter is a huge advantage when shooting in the 1/4, 1/8, 1/15th sec on a tripod, sometimes I run into the limits and the camera will stick at 1 sec when it needs 2 seconds or more.  I've never reached the upper limit of 1/16,000 sec.
