Today, i held the S1R for the first time and it felt more comfortable than my SL. When I MF the 24-105 pansonic lens, a little box automatically appeared at the bottom of the EVF showing focus peaking and the distance I was zooming.

My question is does this box also appear automatically if i use the M lenses with the Leica M to L adapter. One thing i don't like about the SL is the need to press a button to activate focus peaking c.f. the M bodies.

Thanks

I am afraid you will have to press a button to activate the zooming feature within the EVF/LCD on the S1R with M lenses. It is not done automatically. At this point in time, I don't think you can customise the camera to automatically have this pop up feature during manual focusing.

Having said that the peaking is on automatically with MF ..... and is much clearer and more accurate than on the SL.

A press of the joystick on the back brings up the magnified window and the rear thumb-dial increases/decreases magnification. It vanishes on half pressing the shutter...... so unlike the SL the button to activate it is under your thumb. OK, it's not like the M implementation but it is far better than on the SL.

To be honest ....combined with the better EVF I doubt you would need magnification ...... even with the 75/2 or Noctilux.

The pressing of one button (to activate the magnification window) isn't a big deal for me since i use back-button focus with my AF lenses anyhow. It's just a different button 8-)

Ditto.
