wesphoto Posted March 31, 2019 Share #1 Posted March 31, 2019 Advertisement (gone after registration) Dear Leica friends, I recently purchaced a used M9 with new sensor, next to my two M9Monochrom and M262. Now when I start using the camera, I find out that when I shoot in an darker situation the shutterspeeds jumps to 1/30 or even 1/60 when it should be 1/8 or longer. As a result I get very underexposed images using A mode. same for auto Iso or fixed Iso. When I compare to my Mmonochrome (same settings and Iso) the M9M meter and exposure goes easely down to 2 seconds or longer. Do I miss anything or is the M9 faulty? Thank you for any ideers, Eddy

ianman Posted April 1, 2019 Share #2 Posted April 1, 2019 Have you checked the exposure compensation ?
wesphoto Posted April 1, 2019 Author Share #3 Posted April 1, 2019 Hi Janman, Yes I did. All settings are the same, as with the Monochrom. It looks like the light meter does not read a low value (for example 2 sec at 3200 iso at F4)instead it jumps to 1/24 or 1/30, what is off course underexposed. The M9monochrom does give proper exposure and meter read out, perhaps something is wrong with the M9 light meter. The sensor of the mono is off course better, but the lightmeter should have the same sensitivity I suppose?
Jean-Michel Posted April 2, 2019 Share #4 Posted April 2, 2019 Hi, I tried and was not able to reproduce your issue with my M9. The exposure meter works as it should in any configuration. Your camera is likely faulty and needs repair.
Rus Posted April 2, 2019 Share #5 Posted April 2, 2019 Was the minimum shutter speed in auto iso set to 1/60 in the M9?
Nick_S Posted April 3, 2019 Share #6 Posted April 3, 2019 I had the same thought as Rus regarding the minimum shutter speed setting. Perhaps try resetting the camera to factory defaults and see if the problem persists: From the Leica M9 Anleitung/Instructions, page 149: Quote "Resetting all custom settings. This function allows you to simultaneously delete all previous user settings made in the main and image parameters menus and reset them to the factory default settings. Setting the function 1. In the main menu (see p. 102/119), select Reset(4.1.20), and 2. then press the SET button (1.21) to call up the relevant sub-menu.3. Then use the left/right direction buttons (1.30) to select the desired function, and 4. confirm your selection by pressing the SET button again. Note: This reset also affects any individual profiles defined and saved using the Save user profile function (4.1.2,see above)"
