paul.bridges.3388 Posted March 29, 2019 Share #1 Posted March 29, 2019 Advertisement (gone after registration) Received my Q2 today. Of course, it’s a beautiful camera but I’m immediately puzzled about the AF / MF. Coming from Sony (A7R & RX1RII), I’m used to focussing with “hybrid” DMF. A half-press to spot AF...and then fine MF adjustment on the focus ring (using magnification with peaking). The Q2 seems to be locked to either full AF....or full MF. What’s more, the AF implementation seems poor - using a flimsy plastic tab on the focus ring to lock into AF mode. Or, am I missing something in my excitement? wda Posted March 30, 2019 Share #2 Posted March 30, 2019 A flimsy plastic tab on the Q2? I think the tab on the Q is far from flimsy, a little awkward to unlock, initially, but not flimsy. I can only compare the transition from AF to manual as implemented on the CL which is superb. But back to the Q, I find that manual focusing on the original Q ideal for general use, and more accurate when wishing to select a specific person in a group. AF often slects the wrong target in a group. I suggest your problem has more to do with learning different operating techniques with a new camera. Persevere and you will enjoy your new camera.
