Every picture 47 megapixels ???

In all likelihood I've got the wrong end of the stick, but I'm under the impression that regardless of the type of picture taken (dng, jpeg, dng+jpeg) or crop factor, the Q2 will create and store a 47 megapixel file.

Much of the time, I'm happy with just jpegs ... I'm concerned that huge 47 megapixel files will overload my storage card, my computer, my patience, my brain.

Have I failed to understand the way the Q2 works / stores data?

Yes of course: The sensor HAS that many pixels. But when you crop plus use jpg only then there are less as you use just a portion of the sensor.
