I’ve read the M9 sensor thread but am pondering what to do. Is there a new link on the Leica site (one of those posted previously is now invalid)?

I have just discovered, when getting my M9 sensor professionally cleaned that it is showing early signs of corrosion. This was not present on prior cleaning. I bought the camera in 2011.

Getting it repaired would be an option, but takes ages from New Zealand. I wonder if the upgrade option is available here? Or should I try overseas? The M10 looks tempting. At the same time I might look at trading a film camera. I also need a new compact to replace my old D-Lux 5.

All suggestions welcome!

Thanks, I heard from Leica direct. Yes, Lacklands is the NZ agent, but my previous experience was that sending product to Leica and back takes many months.

As I am travelling soon, perhaps I could try Singapore. I am thinking more about what model to choose as a longterm replacement.

Thanks, they must have improved. It took four months to get my old X1's sensor fixed, so I couldn't take it on a trip. That was sometime ago. I'll give them a call.

Since you're paying, try Camera Clinic as well in Melbourne.

My X1 needed a flash fix (flash head didn't retract properly, and it "flashed" every exposure, even when sort of retracted). Quick, and efficient.

Doubt I still have their details but I'll look, if I find them I'll e mail you.

Thanks Gary, great to have some options! Lacklands can help; waiting to hear details. We're also going to be in Germany in May; wonder if that may work out, too?

Lacklands was very helpful. Looks like the M10 is a good choice. Yes, all Leica price tags cause a sharp intake of breath, but it's a good offer.

I think the  problem with the previous delay with the X1 some years ago was probably the very slow international postal service. C19 around-the-world tea clipper sailing ships were faster!
