john_f Posted August 11, 2006 Share #9 Posted August 11, 2006 Leica cameras, old and new, have been used in several movies over the years. Have a look at Leica FAQ - Leica Spotting & at the Movies for a very complete list (including the movie "Closer" with Julia Roberts).
illuminatus Posted August 11, 2006 Share #10 Posted August 11, 2006 There is M6 in "After the Sunset." It belonged to Salma Hayek in the movie. Zana Briski uses M6 in "Born into Brothels" although this one is a documentary and she is an acutal photographer.
mathewm Posted August 11, 2006 Share #11 Posted August 11, 2006 In the Pixar movie "Cars" most of the animated cameras feature a prominent red dot.
leicapfile Posted August 11, 2006 Share #12 Posted August 11, 2006 A little off topic (maybe), but Cars is a marvelous movie that I took the Grandkids to a few weeks back. Marvelous not only for the tale told, but how it is done so in a manner that enjoyable (literally) by people from 2 to a 100. It is sprinkled with subtle, almost subconcious, bits that insure I'll get the DVD when it comes out. And I missed the red dots!
Guest leica_mage Posted August 11, 2006 Share #13 Posted August 11, 2006 Julia Roberts uses a M6 in the movie "Closer" The camera is featured prominatly! see Closer (2004/I) C Characteristically, the M6 is much more attractive than Julia Roberts! Plus, she uses it in "machine gun" mode, and it's made to sound like an old F2 + motor winder - much like the way fist punches sound in spaghetti Westerns (and not only). albertwang Posted August 11, 2006 Share #14 Posted August 11, 2006 That's no Leica. Geewhiz! Now that's a conspiracy theory to make us believe that a fake Leica is an Argus. Dunnowhatchatalkinboutyaknow?
albertwang Posted August 11, 2006 Share #15 Posted August 11, 2006 But does a red dot on the car = Leica affiliate?
