marsbars Posted March 12, 2019 Share #1 Posted March 12, 2019 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi guys, the 246 is a camera that has always fascinated me and the opportunity to get a used one has just come up. Is there anything I should know regarding the sensor of the 246? I feel like I had read about them in the past and some Leica stores won’t sell them unless the sensor has been replaced but I don’t know if that’s just the first editions or also the 246. It looks like it is in great condition, I’m going to see it tomorrow. It is $4200 Thanks for reading!

a.noctilux Posted March 13, 2019 Share #2 Posted March 13, 2019 Hello Marsbars, Leica M(typ246) is the second type Leica Monochrom. This one M246 has no sensor problem as the first (M9 base) Monochrom. Only the first Monochrom along with M9 and M9 base bodies that can develop sensor corrosion problem. a.noctilux Posted March 13, 2019 Share #4 Posted March 13, 2019 The funny thing is that I use Monochrom I for years and enjoy it so much (sensor replaced once), in few days, I will have M (typ 246) as fear of "second sensor problem" with my lovely first MM which I keep. Your second hand M246 price is well under the "market price".
