I have not needed any work on any of my Leica M lenses in quite a while. But now I have two 50mm lenses that need some work. My 50mm Rigid Summicon has a loose aperture indicator dot that freely circulates around the lens barrel. It is perfectly functional but this is  bothersome. The other lens is a 50 mm Elmar f2.8 collapsable which is also perfectly usable but the the aperture scale and indicator dot are located way down on the left side of the lens barrel when it is mounted on a camera body which is also bothersome. M question is now that John Van Stelton at Focal Point is closed, who is able reliable do do this sort of work in the USA?

I don't have the tools or aptitude to do any of this sort of work though it is probably simple for an experienced repair person.

John was a master of giving new life to old glass and I’m not sure there is anyone quite like him anymore. Maybe DAG. For simpler mechanical issues like loose or misaligned aperture rings and such I’d like to recommend Youxin Ye. His prices for lens CLA are very reasonable and he works very quickly when requested.

Are you aware that the collapsable lenses, when extended, can be locked in three different positions? All three are fully functional but only one is convenient with regard to the location of the scales. So try unlocking the front barrel, rotate it into proper position, and lock again.
