Any suggestions, I have noticed that when the image first comes up in preview on the back it is cool and natural. Then .5 sec later it changes and seems to have been coloured and or colour adjusted. Is this normal as I have not notice the image changing just after displaying,

PS only shooting RAW and tried taking off IT and 6BIT in menu it still changes

Thanks in advance

It's normal. The camera seems to be applying colour correction. If you shoot with an IR/UV filter you'll see the initial image has cyan corners, this then changes to a correct image.

With the Noctilux you can also see that it's compensating for the lens's inherent vignetting.

Cheers. Just not noticed it prior to camera going back to Solms for new top and 6 bit and range finder calibration

Hi Darrell, for the new top of your M8, are you changing black top to chrome top or vice versa?

You might notice the noise level going way up at high ISO. It goes up to intolerable levels but the actually files don't look anyway near that bad. Can anyone explain?

The ten megapixel image is shown on a very small monitor with a small number of pixels. This may well be the cause of the coarser rendering of the grain. But no matter – the proof of the image is in the eating, and noise levels are acceptable at high iSOs, especially in BW and at ISO 1250. And Tri-X was not exactly grainless, either ...

I have a feeling that the image is either not downsampled for the display on the screen, or only with a crude algorithm. If the algorithm just choose the nearest pixel in the full image, then the noise might well seem stronger on the screen.

Interesting: I notice it, ever so shortly, when M8 DNG's (UV/IR on plus filter) are imported into Lightroom (1.1).

Noticeable green cast, strong in corners, then going away, and image also adjusting in height.
