quixotic Posted February 8, 2019 Share #1  Posted February 8, 2019 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi All, I can get the flash to work perfectly either in auto mode or TTL mode with a 351 adapter on the R7 (and the results after processing prove it, also). But with the 3501 adapter on the R8, I can't get the TTL to work, even when I open up the aperture way past what the ambient lighting and sliding scale on the flash unit say. (the auto function does still work, though).  Any suggestions? thanks in advance. wlaidlaw Posted February 10, 2019 Share #2  Posted February 10, 2019 A dead SCA 3501 adapter? However for the R8/9, should you not be using an SCA 3502 not a 3501? I finally gave up with Metz when I bought a 54MZ3 and 3502 mk5 to use with my M8, which Metz assured me worked - it didn't. They did not believe me, so I went to their stand at Photokina 2008 and demonstrated to them it did not work. They then got new units out of boxes and found to their embarrassment, it still did not work with little to no communication between camera and flash. I think Leica until very recently, gave flash a very low priority and even though Metz was next door at Solms, just don't seem to have communicated properly with each other - a bit like their flashes and cameras. The Leica SF58D was also made by Metz and the long promised firmware update for the series one version never arrived and now will never arrive. Wilson
