andybarton Posted August 15, 2007 Share #81 Posted August 15, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) It's happening to me too. This is either a bug in the firmware, or there are a whole raft of DMR batteries failing at the same time. This suggests that all of them need to go back to Germany to have their batteries changed, or we have to put up with it. Anyone with a decent contact at Solms who can check this out? The world was a better place in 2000, so maybe we should be grateful.
Advertisement Posted August 15, 2007 Posted August 15, 2007 Hi andybarton, Take a look here DMR Firmware 1.3. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
dhsimmonds Posted August 15, 2007 Share #82 Posted August 15, 2007 It started happening to my DMR long before I up-dated to v-1.3. Every time I remove the battery to re-charge I lose the date/time settings. I must try Leica UK to ask if it's a quick fix that they or we can do. rsolomon Posted August 15, 2007 Share #83 Posted August 15, 2007 according to leica NJ it the small internal battery.... i explained that my user profile are retained over the "recharging" and they say the battery is just not strong enough and needs to be replaced -- they are on order to NJ and are expected in few weeks . jamesto Posted August 15, 2007 Share #84 Posted August 15, 2007 I see from pages 79, 88, 109 of the DMR instruction manual that losing time/date settings after 10 days of non-use is normal. Anyway, as for the small internal battery, can this be replaced by the user without having to send into the factory for service? If so, where is this battery located? Thanks! rsolomon Posted August 15, 2007 Share #85 Posted August 15, 2007 The battery is a "special leica edition" and can only be ordered via leica service. Leica told me to call them, check to see if the batteries are in stock, then drive over and they will replace it. I personally do not plan on opening up my DMR and will let Leica do it. Luckily i am close enough to take the hour drive over.

hdg Posted August 17, 2007 Share #87 Posted August 17, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Sorry Zoran, I think there is a misunderstanding. V 1.3 is made for use with the DMR but not to update the Digilux 3! Regards Hans
rsolomon Posted August 17, 2007 Share #88 Posted August 17, 2007 Hans there is a firmware update for the Digiux 3 as well. Check out this this link Leica Camera AG - Downloads scroll down to the bottom page, its labeled: "Digilux 3 Firmware Update"
Willem van Beers Posted August 31, 2007 Share #89 Posted August 31, 2007 Yep and I've downloaded it and put it on my DMR. The screen images are now OK and that awful colour cast has gone on the LCD, I have only tried a few images in RAW as that is what I use and they look great with Auto exposure, 100 ISO. The camera histogram is showing acurate exposures so far. Next step is to try a 4Gb card...if I can find one that is FAT32 and not SDHC. Weather in England is atrocious today, so will give it more use later. Thank you Leica! I bought the Transcend 4GB 150X card #TS4GSD150 and the DMR reacted with a capacity of 201 Raw files. Sandisk did also introduce similar cards. I did ask Leica in Solms about the SDHC cards and I was informed that a firmware update will be available before the end of this year. dhsimmonds Posted August 31, 2007 Share #90 Posted August 31, 2007 Thank you Willem but I also have bought a Transcend 150x and it works perfectly. As you say 201 RAW images. The idea of another firmware update to allow SDHC cards this year is intrigueing and welcome news.

Thanks, Rob. Rob: Try testing it for yourself. Set the camera up on a tripod and a scene with controlled lighting. Try some shots with 1.1 and then load 1.3 and make the same images. The noise is definately better with 1.3. I think the colour may be more accurate too, but with a bit less saturation. I haven't done a lot of testing with the colour. If you need a copy of 1.1 after your test, I still have it and can email it to you. Robert

Colour on the screen of the DMR definity better then by 1.1. 2. Histogram very accurate 3. Iso 400 and 800 less noise then with 1.1. Iso 800 is now a good option to use. Iso 1600 is also better but more noise then I hoped 4. Automatic WB much better and very constant. 5. Colour on the big screen of the mac very good. So I want te keep 1.3 and thanks for your advice !!! Rob
