As the picture show below, in the rangerfinder, lens rear fringe drive Part I, and Part I drive part II via a metal point(red dot) of Part I rub the edge of Part II (red line), here is the cause of sticky-----two metal parts interact via sliding friction rather than rolling friction, and due to lack of lubrication, Part I and Part II got sticky even stuck some day. Solution: It's very simple, a tiny drop of lube on the touch action surface ! Welcome, dear visitor! Step 1: Remove the top cap It's quite simple, just 2 screws(one is in the button conner, the other one in the battery room), as pictures shows below, easier than M240. Lubrication surface: see pictures below, the dark imprinting line(in red circle) is the scratch mark, put one drop of lube, it's down! thank you, MaxHu, for your post : i have the exactly same issue with my M10-D (see here), at the very same place there is a friction with the associated scratch mark... i will see now what lubricant is best applied here. do you have any advice what make and type of lubricant to use ? He hasn’t posted anywhere on the forum since the above post 6 months ago. You might try a PM. Or ask, or send to, a reputable Leica repair technician. I personally wouldn’t risk voiding the warranty or doing harm, but others prefer DIY. Jeff
Malabito Posted November 25, 2021 Share #26 Posted November 25, 2021 I also just had this same issue..... Camera worked perfectly for around 3 years... and suddenly started to have the same problem.... I sent it to Leica Germany and they fixed it free of charge. But i am so how concern about all the issues with the m10, my m240 lasted for almost 5 years and was really used and abused and never had any issues, besides the slow operation and dust in the sensor common with the m240. But with the m10 is already the second time i send it to service, (first time was due to stuck shutter). If you google leica m10 issues, you will see that they don't really seem to be as robust as the predecessors. Thankfully Leica fixed the issue in a relatively fast time, (3 weeks) and actually fixed it for free, so I cant really complain about the service. They changed the leather covering of the camera, cleaned the rangefinder frame lines, (mine had a particle of dust inside), camera was returned like new.... only thing i had to pay was a scratch on the front cover of finder, which was minimum, but given the trip to leica why not repair it as well....my experience with leica service has actually been very good, considering all the horror stories you read on the internet, (I have only good things to say), but i am also within Europe and ship directly to Germany. Now i have a brand new m10

You are welcome, I live in China so I don't view this forum often, Months ago my M10 got sticky and there is no information in any Chinese forum so I googled and in this very forum I know I am not single : )but still, no solution. So I remove the cover of M10 and find where went wrong, due to the "repair process" is quite simple, so I post it here anyone have same issue may see. By the way, you can apply some graphite (use pencil) first, because it's none liquid, more stable , and apply very little liquid lube (for highspeed bearing) with a needle, don't apply too much
