Aperture 2 Posted January 3, 2019 Share #1 Posted January 3, 2019 Advertisement (gone after registration) I’m scanning my old negatives, pictures some times not seen since 10, 20 or 30 years. When looking at the files I found these two pictures from a travel I did to New York in Christmas 1996 with my wife. The tweens towers in all their beauty and my wife at top of them, innocent happy holly days. A banal street photography at that time but an historical testimony now. Welcome, dear visitor! stuny Posted January 4, 2019 Share #2 Posted January 4, 2019 Very nice. Even 17 1/2 years later I still feel a sadness when I see photos of the twin towers.
Aperture 2 Posted January 5, 2019 Author Share #3 Posted January 5, 2019 Dear stuny, it is the same sadness for me when the tweens appear in some movie or picture even if I'm not a Newyorker like you (I'm from Bruxelles in Belgium). I went back to New York in 2013, this time with with my daughter and visited the monument that replaced the towers, very beautiful. I always enjoy to see your NY pictures, please keep posting them. Best regards.

Ari Kfir Posted January 6, 2019 Share #5 Posted January 6, 2019 (edited) Well, I remember the day very well. Lived mid Manhattan – two blocks from the 5th Avenue. Was walking the street when the first hit occurred. Have some negs of the damaged area that I made a few days later. Graham (G4FUJ) Posted January 6, 2019 Share #6 Posted January 6, 2019 As the tops of these towers appeared over the horizon, we knew we were a few hours away from anchorage at Sandy Hook, to await pilot for transit up to an oil berth. That was back in the mid to late '80s. Happy days.
