What is unusual about this escalator?

Why is it that way?

Where is it?

No-one?

It's on the London Underground network and missing the little signs suggesting you Stand on the Right - you can see where they have been removed. The signs serve two purposes. One to inform, the other to prevent the use of the metal alongside the escalator as a slide.

These were removed so Xavier Bardem and Daniel Craig could slide down the escalator in the chase scene in Skyfall. Ther District Line sign below is a relic from the film  - Charing Cross is Northern/Jubilee line

The station is an unused portion of Charing Cross station which was left as a spur off the main Jubilee Line when it was re-routed from Green Park into Westminster. This part of Charing Cross has also been used In the Bourne Ultimatum and Paddington.

The adverts are all false but look realistic. Though Mr Jass may not be thanking his parents...

Thanks for posting. Always fascinated by London's underground, never saw such long escalators. When visiting it's always agonizing to decide to walk and see the sites along the way or use the tube and get there fast.  Mind the gap!

Like this?

(from a ventilation tunnel above the Northern Line)

FYI - this was an organised tour through the London Transport museum, part of their Hidden London series. They are very good.
