Stan Yoder Posted July 17, 2007 Share #1 Posted July 17, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Patience rewarded! Bliss! Came by UPS, without email advance notice from Allendale. Solms had confirmed order 28 Feb. Mit Frankenfinder, but think I'll use the older 21-24-28 VF with the M8. A couple of observations: a) the IB says intermediate focal-length settings are OK, so that makes it a zoom, yes? the focal-length ring feels a bit gritty under the fingers when rotating. Is that normal? c) the focus ring stops at 20" in the gray. I guess the rest of that scale is for D-o-F determination, yes? Now all I need is for the return of my M8 from Allendale - new shutter. Guest guy_mancuso Posted July 17, 2007 Share #2 Posted July 17, 2007 Stanley yes it really is a zoom lens No mine is pretty smooth but it is new also so the grease needs to work a little , work with it and see if it gets better , it should No when it stops at 20" at the grey mark which there is a slight indent the coupling is turned off so it won't focus for you but the lens still focuses down, you just can't see it. Guess work at this point Enjoy it and do think about Johns adapter and a Leica 49 IR filter for it
enboe Posted July 17, 2007 Share #3 Posted July 17, 2007 Glad to hear they're making progress on the list. My confirmation letter was dated 3/1, so it will be interesting to see how long it takes with just one day difference. Thanks for the update. carstenw Posted July 17, 2007 Share #4 Posted July 17, 2007 The slight grittiness is normal, my dealer told me. There isn't anything like a feeling of sand in there, but it is noticeably rougher than the focusing.
