Elephants and Giraffe, Botswana

Very nice catches, details, light and color. I've always been amused by how giraffe must splay their legs to drink. In the US, the political party to which George Bush belongs is the Republicn Party, and their symbol is an elephant. Therefore, I propose a title for the first image: "The making of a Republican."

Hi Stuart,

'The Making of a Republican' LOL!

I was thinking of 'The Republicans are at it again.'

In my earlier life, I spent a year in Arizona and another year in Ohio. I do know a bit about American politics since I am working for a US company. I have always consider politics as the last resort of a scoundrel. Should I send the photo to the Republicans or the Democrats?

"Politics is perhaps the only profession for which no preparation is thought necessary"

Robert Louis Stevenson, 1858-94. :D

Have you thought about having the first one mounted?

...i'd mount both if I were you !

Two fantastic images....Well Done N.S.

Great photographs!

We were in Botswana ourselves 2 years ago and loved it. However, our brief excursion into Zimbabwe to Victoria Falls showed us in a very vivid way how pathological, and pathetic, that country was; it was so sad to cross that border.

Great photos! By the way, I have the almost identical equipment: R9, DMR, 70-210 Angenieux. That lens is FANTASTIC! There is a link to an example of what I did with it recently:

Hi,

Nice shot of the hawk.

Yes, the 70-210 Angenieux is a great lens. I bought this new back in '85. I recalled the lens was packed in a nitrogen filled plastic bag with a MTF chart!

We stayed in Victoria Falls, but economically and politically the country is in a mess. We were in Botswana for a day.
