ns_ng Posted July 16, 2007 Share #1 Posted July 16, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) While I was in Victoria Falls, I managed to visit a wildlife reservation in Botswana. Photos were taken with R8/DMR + 70-210 Angenieux. N.S.
Advertisement Posted July 16, 2007 Posted July 16, 2007 Hi ns_ng, Take a look here Elephants and Giraffe, Botswana . I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
stuny Posted July 16, 2007 Share #2 Posted July 16, 2007 N.S.- Very nice catches, details, light and color. I've always been amused by how giraffe must splay their legs to drink. In the US, the political party to which George Bush belongs is the Republicn Party, and their symbol is an elephant. Therefore, I propose a title for the first image: "The making of a Republican." martinop Posted July 17, 2007 Share #3 Posted July 17, 2007 The color & lighting tones + the framing are appealing.

Hi Stuart, 'The Making of a Republican' LOL! I was thinking of 'The Republicans are at it again.' In my earlier life, I spent a year in Arizona and another year in Ohio. I do know a bit about American politics since I am working for a US company. I have always consider politics as the last resort of a scoundrel. Should I send the photo to the Republicans or the Democrats? N.S.

gvaliquette Posted July 21, 2007 Share #10 Posted July 21, 2007 ns_ng: Great photographs! We were in Botswana ourselves 2 years ago and loved it. However, our brief excursion into Zimbabwe to Victoria Falls showed us in a very vivid way how pathological, and pathetic, that country was; it was so sad to cross that border. Great photos! By the way, I have the almost identical equipment: R9, DMR, 70-210 Angenieux. That lens is FANTASTIC! There is a link to an example of what I did with it recently: http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/nature-wildlife/26533-red-tailed-hawk.html

Yes, the 70-210 Angenieux is a great lens. I bought this new back in '85. I recalled the lens was packed in a nitrogen filled plastic bag with a MTF chart! We stayed in Victoria Falls, but economically and politically the country is in a mess. We were in Botswana for a day. N.S.
