mr_big Posted October 4, 2018 Share #1 Posted October 4, 2018 Advertisement (gone after registration) Using my M10 over the weekend I noticed that the frame lines would no longer change with the lens I had on the camera. I could change it using the frame line lever in front of the camera but there was resistance when moving it. Don't know how it happened, maybe something hit it when I put it in the bag? Sound like an easy fix?
Advertisement Posted October 4, 2018 Posted October 4, 2018 Hi mr_big, Take a look here Frame line selector lever stuck. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
adan Posted October 4, 2018 Share #2 Posted October 4, 2018 Take off your lens and look at the camera lens mount. Directly opposite the lens release button, and immediately behind/inside the sculpted mounting flange on the camera, near the external frame-line lever, is a small tab. That is the tip of the lever that changes the framelines automatically with lens mounting. (Lenses come in three variations, with differing lengths to one of their flanges, that push that lever: not at all, halfway down, or all the way - to bring up 35/135, 50/75, or 28/90 viewfinder lines.) Inspect that for problems - bent, rubbing on the adjacent flange, jammed with a chunk of - something. Try moving it gently up and down (up towards the top plate, down towards the baseplate) with a small tool (jeweler's screwdriver, e.g.). However, the manual selection lever "overrides" that lever internally (so that you can call up 35 lines even with a 90 lens mounted), so if both are jammed, the problem is, while perhaps "easy," probably deep inside the camera body, requiring a strip-down to get at it. Not a user fix.

Stein K S Posted October 8, 2018 Share #4 Posted October 8, 2018 (edited) Hi Could be so... but see also previous post with name ¨sticky frame selector¨... and possibly other threads addressing this issue. My subjective feel or observation makes me think it is a ¨production tolerance¨ problem... that could fix itself over time. My M10 frame selector was sticky (both the manual external & the automatic internal) in the beginning, the it was fine for a few months... and now it is slightly back. And for sure no beinding/damage causing this. Can live with it as it behaves not, but need to be somewhat aware... mr_big Posted October 12, 2018 Author Share #5 Posted October 12, 2018 I looked up the other threads related to this and tried the suggested solutions to no avail. Looks like I'll have to send it in hoping to get it back for a trip I'm taking in less than 4 weeks. Fingers crossed.
mr_big Posted October 24, 2018 Author Share #6 Posted October 24, 2018 Update on the stuck frame selector... A big shout out to Tony and the gang at Popflash. They sent it in to NJ for repair.... it was there and back in 1 week! The take away here is buy from a reputable dealer who takes care of you after the purchase. 1
