Currently, the NY Botanical Gardens has special exhibits regarding Georgia O'Keefe's 1939 three-month stay in haw3aii, on assignment to make illustrations for a food company.  during that time she produced 20 paintings for herself (on display in the library), and in the Conservatory they had Hawaiian flora.  After viewing the paintings one can view a superb 20 minute film about her and her experiences just before and during her Hawaiian visit.  Here we see the back of one viewer's head during the film.

Thanks for this - and your beautiful flower image you posted yesterday.  I've been to Ghost Ranch and her museum in Santa Fe several times - she was an extraordinary artist and her friendship with Ansel Adams is, for me, inspiring.  I did not know she spent time in Hawaii - so thank you for opening this new avenue of discovery for me!
