jmr237 Posted September 24, 2018 Share #1 Posted September 24, 2018 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) I will be in Frankfurt next year and I plan to make a day trip to visit the Leica HQ and factory in Wetzlar. The Leica website says that Customer Care is available for in-person service requests. I might use that opportunity for a CLA on an MM v1 and/or lens and rangefinder adjustment. Does anyone have a sense of their turnaround time? Is it a same-day type of thing, or should I be prepared to return a few days later? Advertisement Posted September 24, 2018 Posted September 24, 2018 Hi jmr237, Take a look here Wait time for in-person service at Wetzlar. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
schattenundlicht Posted September 24, 2018 Share #2 Posted September 24, 2018 I would advise you to call in advance and enquire with a service technician. A single body adjustment most propably will be possible while waiting / touring the factory and having a light meal in the Café Leitz, however the best results will be gained from all bodies and all lenses in one‘s posession being adjusted to each other. My set greatly improved after that. Adjustment of a complete set will mean leaving them there, in my experience.
jmr237 Posted September 25, 2018 Author Share #3 Posted September 25, 2018 Thank you for the reply. What would the approximate cost to perform a CLA for a MM and three lenses?
schattenundlicht Posted September 25, 2018 Share #4 Posted September 25, 2018 (edited) It will depend on the lenses. Although I could throw around ballpark figures, I would not be comfortable with causing potential disappointment on your side, if things turn out differently. If you send a mail to Leica CS with a list of your specific gear, they should be responsive. Wetzlar is not cheap with service (as it is not with procurement in the first place ) but I generally find it worthwhile because I get back my gear in top working condition for several years to come. firoze Posted October 15, 2018 Share #5 Posted October 15, 2018 This past August I was Leitz Park to have my X Vario battery lock replaced. I had emailed them in advance and set up an appointment. Upon getting there, the Reception was expecting me, and a service engineer took my camera in immediately, and returned it fixed within 45 minutes. Admittedly the XV battery lock is a relatively simple and quick fix, but still I was very pleased with the experience. As schattenundlich suggests, do email customer service in advance. They will give you an approximate quote of the cost, and the time required for the repairs. Note that CS is often busy, so if they do not reply within a reasonable time, send them a gentle reminder. Hope this helps.
