FWIW the word is that the upcoming 10.15.3 update will fix tethering for the SL2 and S007 using LIS for SL2  with LR Classic. Would be nice...

FWIW MacOS 10.15.3 was released today.

I have running 10.14.6 very stable and i see no reason to update to catalina

No question, it's been that way for me as well. But if you wish to use the new 16" MacBook Pro for tethered capture using LISfSL2 for both the SL2 and S007, as I would,  you'd be out of luck. 10.14.x cannot be installed on it. C'est la vie.

Good to know. A coworker  is intended to buy that MB. So he has to check how Adobe CC runs with the newest update of Catalina before purchase…

If it helps, I've had no issues at all for some time now with Photoshop CC or Lightroom Classic on my Mac Pro (Late 2013) with Catalina.

Anyone tried tethering with SL(1)?

See my answer on page 2 in this thread. Works very stable via Hot Folder and C1. Haven't tried LR as I don't use it for new shoots any longer.

I'm going to try now, although I use Mac and I don't have the original cable.

I tested it and it worked fine for the first 10 shots. Then it stopped working. I guess the camera's buffer got full, but it didn't give any indication neither on the camera, or the computer (LIS and C1), it just stopped working. Then I restart the camera and it worked again.

Generally, as you said, better something than nothing, but I feel this will be pain in the butt if it got stuck after only 10 shots. I'll have to test it more though. Tethering was always my biggest frustration since I bought SL in 2016, to the point I completely stopped using it a year ago. I complained here on the forum numerous times, I wrote to Leica numerous times, even Adobe and C1 as far as I can remember, but it was never actually fixed. I tried various solutions, some worked better than other, but it was never reliable.

I'll buy SL2 ONLY if tethering works and if it works reliably. That's literally the only reason I'd invest in that camera. As much as it's tempting, if tethering does not work, I'll buy myself even more frustration as 95% of my work is studio.

Btw: Is it important to remove SD cards from the camera? This is something can be easily forgotten, as I keep my SDs all the time in the camera.

YES! This is probably the reason for all the issues people have with the SL and tethering.

No cards in the camera, as this probably is the reason for the camera stopping. Remove the cards and have another try ;-)
I'm in my studio later today with the new SL2 and see how that works.

I was just about to reply again, but you were faster. I gave it another shot this evening and I made around 400 shots during over two hours without single disconnect! I must admit this is the first time I had this long streak with SL :) I was moving around with my camera (even my laptop changed the position 10 times), without breaks. However, I was careful not to shoot to fast to fill up the camera's buffer, but it's not a big deal. I'm not a super fast shooter anyway.

Tried Lightroom without SD cards, but it doesn't work. Same old behavior.

@Rob Cale thank you for the tip, this has been a lifesaver! Let us know how SL2 performs.
