I don't have Q to use it on - I assume the Q uses the Leica flash protocol, like the M, SL, etc.- , but I have the Panasonic version; I find it crazily expensive for what it offers. Triple the price of the Metz variants.

It has no manual controls, actually no controls at all except three basic switches, and the build quality is OK, nothing more.

Therefore there are no settings, nor tips and tricks. The only thing going for it is the compactness.

 

In comparison the SF 40 is a "bargain", despite being a double-price Nissin rebrand.

At least it feels like a quality product and has full controls, a zoom reflector and an integrated wideangle diffuser

also there is no need to worry about flash synch speeds with a Q, so virtually any old 'Nikon' style flash works fine. But the Q+SF40 gives TTL if you want it. Good luck
