Advertisement Posted September 21, 2018 Posted September 21, 2018 Hi Guest, Take a look here Medium format on Safari. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Guest Posted September 21, 2018 Share #42  Posted September 21, 2018 Here you go mate    Had a fantastic time Jaapv, I couldn't believe the difference between February (green) and September (Yellow)...........Dust everywhere and both cameras came back home without any issues.............remember the issue I had before with the Hot S adapter (Shadowing) all was good this time so not sure why but all good. The Mara River crossing was something else mate, we nearly left 30 minutes before but the guide said lets just give it another 30 minutes.............then it all went off, amazing amazing amazing :)   The close up of the leopard was another bit of luck with me spotting it in the tree while driving back to camp, it was almost dark so we snuck about 5 meters off the road and at ISO1600 1/90 f4.8 I nailed it...........Ive just printed that one along with the other 24 (A2) and plan to auction them off for a charity that my wife supports in Phuket Thailand.......so that will be cool.  Later  Neil
jaapv Posted September 21, 2018 Share #43  Posted September 21, 2018 Well done! I'm off to Mozambique, Malawi, Zambia and Botswana in a few weeks time. I'll surely post some shots then  APS-C and MFT - I guess my whole bag will be the weight of one of your cameras

jaapv Posted September 21, 2018 Share #45  Posted September 21, 2018 Safe travels mate......look forward to seeing the picture  Neil Thanks; I'm excited, I haven't been to Botswana for ages. Next time you go to Tanzania, get your guide to take you to Mahale for the Chimps. Combine with Katavi -but in the dry season for the best game -as soon as it rains it is over. And on the Southern circuit. Ruaha is amazing -but stay away from the Fox operation.

Thanks for sharing! Really like the "environmental" settings and not just all close-ups, such as your giraffe on the road (the close up of the cat in the tree is certainly nice too!). Really like the "environmental" settings and not just all close-ups, such as your giraffe on the road (the close up of the cat in the tree is certainly nice too!). Totally agree, in awe. Of the pictures of course, but also the dogged determination to make the effort with gear and gear weights. Having just humped a 503CXi and lenses, plus an SWC, as well as a bit of digital all about Europe, I can sort of sympathise with you. Great shots Neil. Guest Posted September 23, 2018 Share #49  Posted September 23, 2018 So would I do it all again with the medium format gear NO.............. next time I will take my Chamonix 8x10 :)  Joking all apart, I will defiantly go again and next time will take; H6D100c with HC300mm Leica S007 with HC100mm Small 13" Mac Book Air And all the accessories needed to furnish the above (batteries, chargers, external hard drive etc etc)  I know I bitched about the weight of all the gear I took but the only real PITA time was lugging it from KL to Arusha and back again, the in-between bits was a breeze as there were porters to carry it all while going from A to B while on Safari, yes theres a cost to have that luxury but you cant take it with you so you might as well enjoy it.............if you fly economy your kids will fly first class :)  I think I only changed lenses in the field once or twice so the dust issue (theres plenty of it) wasn't really an issue, I think if I go again I will not even bother changing lenses so just like I wrote above I will only take two lenses one for each body.  I could probably even leave a laptop at home and just get one of those EHD that has card reading capabilities.    All in all it was a fantastic trip, saw so many animals and the Mara River Crossing was just WOW..............  Over the next month or so I will have another look at the many many files that I have and try and find another 25 pictures with a different perspective.  Happy shooting and safe travels  Neil
