If you don’t want to spend so much, you can think of the Elmarit 24 instead of the SE 21. For me it’s one of the lenses I never think of selling. It is perfectly doable without a separate viewfinder which is a big advantage for me above anything wider than 24. Combine it with the 50 Elmar-M and you’re all set. Voigtlander is nice and sometimes beautiful, but in the end you want Leica anyway, so that makes more sense moneywise. The only Voigtlander I have is a 15mm because it’s so unique, but that’s not a lens to start with.

When I bought my 21 SEM I wondered what I needed as a viewfinder. But very soon I found out that I could very well guess the portion of the picture that I do not see in my OVF. For me in the meantime its no problem any more. Further with 21mm you can very well do street without looking through VF at all. For that I have a very small spirit level that I insert into the flash shoe. Its a lens that I use a lot mainly in towns.
